A suture lift or thread lift using NovaThreads or Silhouette InstaLift is an instant, non-surgical facelift and/or neck lift. The procedure is designed to stimulate the production of collagen for natural-looking results. A suture lift will tighten and firm your facial features and restore the youthful V-shape that you may have lost as the result of aging.
Suture Lifts Procedure Overview
Thread lift candidates are typically between the ages of 30 to 60 and their skin is just beginning to show signs of aging. This procedure is primarily for patients with minimal sagging, those with more advanced stages of aging would benefit more from a traditional face lift. This procedure is relatively new, and have experienced some unique changes recently. With the addition of absorbable sutures, these threads actually stay in your body! The sutures are made of a synthetic and absorbable polydioxanone, or PDO. One of the safest materials that can be implanted in our bodies. This same material is also utilized during heart surgeries.
It is considered a minimally invasive procedure for the face, neck or jowls; however, if you suffer from flabby skin on your breasts, butt, neck, upper chest or even above the skin on your knees, this surgery could be the dramatic change you are looking for.
There are a few different options to choose from while considering this procedure. Here at Integrated Aesthetics, we are happy to offer three procedures. Each one uses a unique technique of achieving the look you are after.
Silhouette InstaLift is a simple in-office procedure to re-contour your face by lifting the deeper layers of your skin for a more youthful appearance.
Our physicians have received comprehensive training on this breakthrough anti-aging treatment. We can answer all of your questions about the procedure and create a treatment plan to ensure you achieve the natural-looking results you desire.
During a short in-office procedure, Dr. Cho will insert the patented Silhouette InstaLift sutures to lift the deeper layers of the skin in your mid-face or cheek area. The treatment does not require general anesthesia, and typically takes 45 minutes. You will see results right away and the recovery time is minimal.
The unique Silhouette InstaLift sutures are naturally absorbed by your body over time. The sutures will naturally be absorbed by your body while stimulating the production of collagen to aid in healthy skin renewal for natural-looking, long lasting results. Cosmetic medical techniques have advanced greatly in recent years. Many aspects of facial aging can be addressed with safe and effective procedures that offer little downtime and natural-looking results. While wrinkles, brown spots and lost volume can be treated with existing procedures, until now there was no minimally invasive way to lift the deeper layers of facial skin, one of the major contributors to an aged and tired appearance.
NOVA (PDO) THREADS
What are Nova Threads? They are hypodermic needles preloaded with a PDO (polydioxanone) absorbable suture. Polydioxanone suture is a sterile monofilament synthetic absorbable suture composed of materials that will provide wound support for longer periods of time compared to other synthetic absorbable sutures. PDO sutures are used to perform cardiothoracic surgery (such as open-heart surgery). It’s one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body. Your skin fully absorbs it within 4 to 6 months & won’t leave you with any scar tissue.
A youthful and healthy face has a natural “V-shape” appearance to it. With the aging of tissues and the action of gravity, this “V-shape” diminishes or inverts over time. Unfortunately, this can cause your facial shape to have a drooping appearance as your nasolabial becomes more prominent and the jawline looses definition. The reposition of the skin to recreate the “V-shape” where it has been lost. Thanks to modern medicine, we are now able to give a lift using non-surgical procedures that can tighten and firm our facial features.
In medical terms “Selective Inflammatory Response”, it is the principle behind a lot of aesthetic procedures (such as Fractional Laser, Chemical Peels & Microneedling). Our skin is very good at repairing itself, and by inserting PDO threads we make it ‘heal’ itself by creating new collagen, naturally!
Your Skin Gently Reacts to the Inserted Threads.
Yes, PDO is fully absorbable, but that doesn’t mean your skin won’t react to it. During the 4 to 6 months needed to fully absorb the PDO suture, your skin is also repairing itself around it.
It’s “controlled healing” happening underneath the skin!
EuroThreads are resorbable surgical sutures composed of biodegradable polymers. They are inserted subcutaneously showing instant results commonly associated with lifting, tightening, volumizing and contouring. Insert EuroThreads into areas suffering from loss of elastin while simultaneously stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen where treatment has occurred.
There are several types of threads that are used in suture lifts. When you meet with Dr. Cho for your initial consultation, he will determine the right type of thread for you. Most threads are made of synthetic biodegradable material that is commonly used in surgery.
Dr. Cho will begin the procedure by numbing your face with a local anesthetic. During the thread lift procedure hypodermic needles containing surgical sutures are inserted under your skin. The sutures dissolve over time and new collagen grows in their place. You will see a skin lift immediately, and firmness will increase over time. Your skin will fully absorb the sutures in 4-6 months.
Suture lifts can be combined with injectable dermal fillers like Juvederm or Radiesse.
A surgical facelift is an alternative procedure to a non-surgical suture lift.
The results of a thread lift vary with your doctor’s experience and skill, so it is advisable to see a plastic surgeon like Dr. Cho. Possible complications include bumps, asymmetry or visible dents in the skin. In some cases, the thread can show under the skin. Injectable fillers can camouflage some outcomes like indentations.
Prior to your consultation, we want to learn as much as possible about you so that we can best prepare for your visit. We want to understand your concerns, goals, timeline, and your budget to help determine whether we have the appropriate tools and options to deliver your best results.
During your consultation, your assigned Patient Experience Coordinator and Dr. Cho or Dr. Chiang will discuss your concerns in more depth. The doctor will do a physical assessment and then come up with treatment options that balance your needs to manage your downtime, your results, and how we can help address your goals. Many times, a multi-modal approach may be presented to help provide the best outcomes.
After discussing your options, you will continue your journey with your Patient Experience Coordinator to further review your quotes and review the next steps of your aesthetics plan.
