How BOTOX Can Help

Over time, it’s common to notice the development of what are known as “dynamic wrinkles.” While some wrinkles can be formed due to gravity’s effects and others develop in response to volume loss or other factors, dynamic wrinkles are formed by your facial muscles engaging as you speak, breathe, and form facial expressions.

When you come to receive BOTOX in The Woodlands or Spring, TX, it is injected into the treatment area and puts the “pause button” on the nerve signals that tell your facial muscles to move. When injected with precision, BOTOX can be used to target the specific muscles that are causing your dynamic wrinkles, softening the presence of fine lines and wrinkles in a truly impressive way. The best part? You’ll enjoy effective facial rejuvenation with little to no downtime.

Your BOTOX Treatment Experience

Before your treatment, you’ll meet with Dr. Cho or Dr. Chiang for a consultation. This will present us with an ideal time to help you explore various treatment options and ways to complement your BOTOX procedure. We’ll answer any questions you might have about this treatment, and give you a clear idea of what you can expect on the day of your treatment session.

When you arrive for your BOTOX, we’ll carefully clean the treatment area before offering you a topical numbing agent to ensure that you remain comfortable. The injections will be made with a very fine-gauge needle, and most of our patients find that they are able to tolerate the procedure quite easily. The entire process takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Once you’re finished with your injections, you’ll be able to return to your normal routine. Some redness and tenderness may be present in the treatment area, but this will fade quickly and leave you ready to enjoy your final results. BOTOX creates results that last for three to six months, and we’ll help you schedule follow-up appointments to maintain your results.

Dr.Chiang and her staff listen to all my concerns and I always feel we’re on the same page when I go in for my treatments. I’ve had Botox throughout my forehead, eleven lines, crows feet, and Juveaderm in my lips. I bruise easily so I've had horrible bruises in the past from OTHER injectors that lasted a week or more but with Dr.Chiang it's always gone within a day or so. 10/10 would recommend her for all your cosmetic needs!

Kenda M.

I can’t recommend Integrated Aesthetics enough. I’ve been to Dr. Chiang a few times. Once for Botox and twice for lip filler...I had zero bruising and little to no swelling. All the staff is so friendly and helpful also! Couldn’t recommend enough!

What is the Difference Between Xeomin, Botox, and Dysport? Which is Better?

All 3 of these fall under the umbrella of neuromodulators. People use the term Botox interchangeably for products like Dysport. This is understandable as Dysport produces the same result as Botox, but Botox was first to market. Where Dysport differs from Botox is the size of the dosage.

Both the Dysport and Botox molecules contain a complexing protein. On the other hand, Xeomin is naked and experts consider it the purest injectable. This gives Xeomin an advantage for persons with skin sensitivities as there are fewer proteins to interact with the body. A lack of additives means that Xeomin may work faster than the others; however, this varies with each patient.

All three products will give you the desired result. At their core, they are all neuromodulators that contain the Botulinum toxin. Through careful application, each injectable will improve the signs of wrinkles on the forehead, chin, and other areas. Xeomin has fewer additives when compared to Dysport and Botox.

The Five Rs of Facial Rejuvenation

Our signature approach to full facial rejuvenation, coined the “The Five Rs to Facial Rejuvenation,” is designed to globally address the signs of aging and achieve long-lasting results. Each R works together to restore different layers of the face using a combination of surgical and non-surgical procedures. This advanced method includes relaxing muscles, replenishing lost volume, restoring the skin, repositioning the tissues, and reducing facial volume.

R1 – Relax Muscles

We help to relax the muscles and smooth out the appearance of wrinkles by addressing the forehead, crow’s feet, frown lines, masseter lines, chin, and lip lines with muscle relaxer treatments like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxi. Muscle relaxers also help to reduce migraines, excessive sweating, and gummy smiles.

R2 – Replenish Lost Volume

Whether you have volume loss from weight loss or due to the aging process, we can help replenish the volume and contour the face with fillers like Juvéderm, Restylane, RHA, Sculptra, or Radiesse. When combining relaxation of the muscles (R1) with replenishing lost volume (R2) it can make a tremendous difference. We can enhance your results when using R2 in combination with volume reduction techniques (R5), repositioning of the tissue (R4), and restoring the skin (R3).

R3 – Restore the Skin

At Integrated Aesthetics, we offer a robust portfolio of skin resurfacing and tightening devices to help improve the texture, health, and appearance of your skin. Depending on whether the focus is improving discoloration, pore size, fine lines, or mild skin laxity, we offer different options that target different skin concerns.

R4 – Reposition the Tissue

As we get older, our tissues start to sag down. Anything we can do to reposition the tissue can help give you a more lifted appearance. Surgically, we can do a facelift (mini, full, or extended) or neck lift. On the minimally invasive side, we can use threads like Silhouette InstaLift, PDO threads, or MyEllevate to internally lift and reposition the tissues.

R5 – Reduce Facial Volume

Sometimes, instead of having volume lost as we age, we develop excess fullness. It can be fullness under our chin (double chin) or in the jowl area. If we reduce the fullness in the double chin region, it’s also going to help define the transition from the lower face to the neck. This can be done with procedures that either dissolve the fat (Kybella), tighten or melt the fatty tissue (AccuTite), remove the fat (Liposuction), or even freeze the fat (CoolSculpting).

What is Botox?

Botox Cosmetic is the most well-known injectable neuromodulator. Made by Allergan, it temporarily relaxes facial muscles to soften the look of dynamic facial wrinkles created by repeated muscle movement (think: frown lines and furrowed brows).

What does it do?

It works by blocking nerve signals to the muscles, so the injected muscle can’t contract.

How long do the results last?

Average around 3-4 months

Are there alternative procedures?

There are no other treatments that reduce wrinkles by weakening the muscles. However, we can achieve a similar, more subtle effect by using filler to diminish the ability of the muscle to contract. This effect of carefully-placed filler is called "myomodulation."

We can also increase the skin's ability to resist deformation from the muscle's contraction by strengthening the skin through energy-based treatments. Energy-based treatments use controlled heat to injure the skin, and the skin (what an amazing organ!) responds by repairing itself and creating new collagen.

After getting Botox, is there anything I should avoid doing?

Rubbing your face, lying on your face, exercise, avoid wine, don’t take blood thinners, avoid heat and sun.

Which areas can be treated with Botox?

Crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead lines, lip lines, bunny lines on the nose, chin and neck bands.

Masseter muscle, treat TMJ, underarms for excessive sweating, lazy eye, chronic eyelid twitching, migraines, muscle spasms, and vaginismus.

Does it hurt?

The needle used for Botox injections is very thin, so most patients experience only a brief twinge of mild discomfort. If you're concerned, you can request a topical numbing cream before the procedure.

Will I look overdone?

It’s easy to go overboard with Botox injections, particularly if you’re working with someone who isn’t experienced in delivering natural results. The main goal of Botox injections is to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines between the eyebrow crease and around the eyes. When done correctly, Botox injections can help take the years off your face and make you look more well-rested.

Getting too many Botox injections – or injecting too much Botox at once – can create the ubiquitous “frozen” look, where your face no longer makes normal expressions.

How do I know how much Botox I need?

It’s important to go to a plastic surgeon or certified Botox specialist who can deliver precise, natural-looking results. This expert will understand how to administer Botox in such a way that smooths away stubborn wrinkles and lines, without leading to the frozen look.

What’s the difference between Botox (wrinkle relaxers) and fillers?

Botox® and fillers are two types of injectables, which are both injected with a needle. The biggest difference between Botox® and fillers is that Botox® is used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the underlying muscles, fillers on the other hand will fill in wrinkles.

How does it work to prevent wrinkles?

Botox injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes.

When will I see results?

Because it has to bind to receptors on nerve cells to relax muscles, the effects of Botox aren’t immediate. Results can take up to 2 weeks to take effect.

What age should I start getting Botox?

While it's approved for patients over 18, most doctors recommend starting it in your mid-20s to early 30s for "prejuvenation." Regular treatments can delay the formation of new lines.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my treatment?

It is recommended that you not use makeup before your appointment or for one day after your visit. Makeup and other foreign substances on the skin can interact with BOTOX injection sites, and this can lead to an infection that causes redness, swelling, and discomfort.

Can men get Botox?

Yes!

Is there an alternative to Botox?

Dysport and Xeomin are the other two neurotoxin brands that can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

How do I know I am going to a qualified injector?

Look for a doctor who is board certified and performs cosmetic Botox injections on a regular basis. This may be a plastic surgeon, dermatologist, ophthalmologist, cosmetic surgeon, or another board-certified doctor. The more experience a doctor has with cosmetic Botox, the better your results are likely to be.

What Are Common Things I Should Know?

Botox is safe, with minimal risks and side effects. However here are some common points one should know regarding BOTOX:

  • BOTOX effects are not permanent
  • Common side effects include bruising, dry mouth, tiredness, discomfort at the injection site.
  • Other common potential side effects can be headache, neck pain, and vision problems, including blurred vision and dry eyes.
  • More serious, but rare complications of BOTOX are also Trouble swallowing, breathing, or speaking. These risks are heightened if you visit an injector who is not properly trained and accredited. Allergic reactions are also rare, but they can happen hours or even days after injection of Botox such as hives and itching, wheezing, feeling faint, or swelling in your face, tongue, or throat.
