What is Emsculpt?

EmSculpt is a non-invasive, non-surgical, and FDA-cleared treatment that helps to define, tone, and tighten your muscles so you can enjoy the toned physique you’d prefer. This body sculpting technique uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to induce muscle contractions, taking your workout beyond what you can accomplish on your own through exercise. Contracting your muscles repeatedly triggers changes at the cellular level that will increase your muscle size and strength as the fat cells that provide energy for the contractions break down and become eliminated from the body naturally.

EmSculpt gives you the equivalent of 20,000 reps in only 30 minutes, and the newer EmSculpt Neo produces 24,000 contractions in the same time frame. To learn more about how EmSculpt can work for you, reach out to us at our Spring, TX location and set up your consultation with a helpful member of our team today.

Your EmSculpt Consultation

Before your EmSculpt procedure, you will meet with Dr. Cho to determine if you are a good candidate. The treatment works best for people who have less than one inch of pinchable fat in the area to be treated. For EmSculpt Neo, your BMI can be up to 35. A total of four sessions will be recommended for best results.

Our EmSculpting Approach

During your EmSculpt treatment, you will lie down, and the aesthetician will strap applicators to the targeted treatment area. You can expect your EmSculpt session to last 20 minutes for smaller treatment areas (like the upper arms and calves) and 30 minutes for larger areas (like the abdomen, buttocks, etc.).

Treatments typically start at the lowest setting, and the intensity level will gradually increase based on your tolerance and muscle stimulation. You will feel your muscles contract powerfully as the device begins sending high-intensity electromagnetic energy to your muscles. There is minimal to no discomfort during the procedure.

Complementary Procedures for Emsculpt

Your EmSculpt treatment may be combined with EmSella to strengthen and tone the entire core, addressing both the abdominal muscles as well as the pelvic floor muscles. This “Core to Floor” therapy can be used to boost core strength and reduce urinary incontinence and back pain. EmSculpt can be combined with liposuction and CoolSculpting to tone muscles. EmSculpt can also provide a non-invasive butt lift.

Recovery and Results after EmSculpt

If you are in reasonably good shape, you might see improvements after just one treatment session. Typically the noticeable difference in muscle strength is seen before the effects of fat reduction.

Optimal results typically become visible about 10 to 12 weeks after your last treatment. The results of your procedure will last as long as you exercise regularly and keep up with follow-up treatments.

  • EmSculpt is not a weight loss treatment, although it reduces fat.
  • You are likely to need multiple sessions to see the best results.

Are there any risks?

Side effects include light pink to redness to the treated area lasting one to two hours post-treatment, and areas of firmness may require a light massage to smooth out.

Dr. Cho’s Approach to Body Contouring

Dr. Cho’s approaches body contouring by first listening to the patient’s goals during their consultation and assessment. He prefers to segment the patient’s concerns into three different components that, when addressed, can help achieve their goals.

Shrink

As we get older, our tissues lose collagen and elasticity. We offer many options to help with this non-surgically. We use energy-based devices to stimulate collagen and elastin production, creating a nice overall change in patients that show mild to moderate degrees of skin laxity. On the surgical side, physically removing excess skin is often the strongest option. This can be completed with a tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift, breast lift, etc. For stronger results, we offer procedures like BodyTite, which is more minimally invasive and reduces excess fullness, while also addressing skin elasticity and sagging.

Tighten

The second component of body contouring involves fat. Volume reduction needs to be done in an artful way that enhances the patient’s overall shape or figure. We have some non-surgical options for this, such as CoolSculpting, EmSculpt, and Vanquish. These are all devices that help target fat but can also address some additional body contouring concerns. When a more dramatic change is desired, or if Dr. Cho feels that the patient will not be happy with an incremental approach, we shift our approach to options such as BodyTite. BodyTite helps to reduce fat and also tightens the skin.

Tone

The third component of body contouring involves muscle. With emerging technology, we can now focus on building muscle, which is a third tissue layer that can really help to enhance a patient’s results. We use devices like EmSculpt, which can stimulate intense muscle contractions and build new muscle fibers that enhance the shape and tone of the body. A tummy tuck or other surgical procedure can physically tighten the muscle units in a more anatomical position, allowing them to function more efficiently. Sometimes we even combine this approach with our non-surgical options to realign the muscles in a more anatomic position while also building muscle with EmSculpt.
