How the Lip Lift Works for You

A lip lift is a customized procedure that enhances the look of your lips, restoring their youthful position while also smoothing over fine lines and wrinkles that can develop in the area. The most common type is an upper lip lift that involves the removal of a small strip of skin underneath your nose. This shortens the area between the top of your lip and your nose, exposing more of the vermillion to make your lips look fuller.

This procedure will also expose more of your upper teeth. We often combine the lip lift with a “corner lip lift” which raises the outer corners of your upper lip.  A lower lip lift is generally performed if you have a very thin lower lip or an oversized upper lip.

  • Average Cost: $5,800 to $6,300
  • Typical Recovery Period: 10 to 14 Days
  • Discomfort Level: Mild
  • Anesthesia Options: Local

Discover Luscious Lips with a Lip Lift

The facial aging process impacts us all in different ways. Some of us might feel as though we were born with thin lips, while others might be noticing a loss of volume as part of the natural aging process. Whatever your situation may be, a lip lift can counteract the signs of facial aging, giving you a fuller, more youthful appearance. The procedure can also shorten a so-called “long lip,” exposing more of your upper teeth and allowing you to avoid or minimize the need for lip fillers while enjoying a more proportionate sense of facial harmony.

The lip lift is just one of many ways that we offer total facial rejuvenation here at Integrated Aesthetics. When you visit our practice, you’ll choose from over 60 surgical and non-surgical procedures, each one able to help you enjoy your ideal results and a restored sense of self-confidence. To learn more about how our team can help you, reach out to us at our Spring, TX location and set up your consultation today.

The Benefits of a Lip Lift

Our patients love the lip lift for its ability to restore a more youthful look to an area that is often one of the first places to start showing signs that the facial aging process has begun. Our Surgeons, Dr. Cho and Dr. Climov offer more than 20 years of experience and a keenly-developed aesthetic sensibility, enabling them to create results that truly delight. Here are just a few of the reasons our patients love the lip lift:

  • A lip lift will give you permanently fuller lips without the maintenance required by injectable fillers.
  • A lip lift is an easily tolerated surgery that can be performed under local anesthesia. You will not have the “duck lip” look that is common to lip fillers.
  • You have a more youthful look as a result.

Your Lip Lift Consultation

Our goal is to learn as much as possible about you, your goals, and your lifestyle during your initial consultation. This will give us the ability to guide you to a procedure (or combination of procedures) that will fit in well with your personal schedule while also creating the results that you expect. During your consultation, your assigned Patient Experience Coordinator and Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will discuss your concerns in depth.

Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will also perform a physical assessment so they can offer you treatment options that balance your needs to manage your downtime, your results, and how we can help address your goals.

Learn More About Lip Enhancement Options

Many times, an integrated approach may be presented to help provide the best outcomes, thanks to our ability to offer patients over 60 surgical and non-surgical procedural options for precisely targeted results.

You’ll get the chance to ask us any questions you have about the procedure, which we’ll explain in great detail. Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will explain the specific technique they’ll be using, ensure that you understand incision placement and what you can expect from post-surgical scarring, and give you thorough aftercare instructions that will help keep you comfortable. Our team will be available to you at every step of your journey with us.

Your Custom Lip Lift

There are several different approaches for an upper lip lift. You will meet with Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov before the procedure so they can decide on the best approach for you. The “bullhorn” or “subnasal lip lift” involves removing skin below and to the sides of the nostrils, while an “Italian lip” lift involves removing two small pieces of skin underneath the nostrils. Your doctor will inject a local anesthetic to numb the area, so you will not feel any pain during your lip lift, which only takes about a single hour to complete.

The Five Rs of Facial Rejuvenation

Discover our exclusive "The 5Rs to Facial Rejuvenation" approach, meticulously crafted to comprehensively address aging signs and yield enduring results. Combining surgical and non-surgical procedures, each R collaborates to restore distinct facial layers: relaxing muscles, replenishing lost volume, restoring the skin, repositioning the tissues, and reducing facial volume.

R1 – Relax Muscles

We are dedicated to helping you achieve a more relaxed and youthful appearance by addressing wrinkles on your forehead, crow’s feet, frown lines, masseter lines, chin, and lip lines with muscle relaxer treatments like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxi. Our muscle relaxers also provide relief from migraines, excessive sweating, and gummy smiles, so you can feel your best.

R2 – Replenish Lost Volume

Whether it's volume loss from weight loss or the natural aging process, we offer a range of fillers like Juvéderm, Restylane, RHA, Sculptra, or Radiesse to replenish and contour your face. The combination of muscle relaxation (R1) with volume replenishment (R2) can make a tremendous difference, and we can further enhance your results by combining R2 with volume reduction techniques (R5), tissue repositioning (R4), and skin restoration (R3).

R3 – Restore the Skin

Experience a comprehensive range of skin resurfacing and tightening devices at Integrated Aesthetics to enhance your skin's texture, health, and appearance. Our tailored options target various skin concerns, including discoloration, pore size, fine lines, and mild skin laxity, ensuring personalized treatments for your unique needs.

R4 – Reposition the Tissue

As we age, tissue sagging becomes more prominent, but repositioning techniques can provide a lifted appearance. Choose from surgical options like facelift (mini, full, or extended) or neck lift, or opt for minimally invasive treatments like Silhouette InstaLift, PDO threads, or MyEllevate to internally lift and reposition tissues, achieving natural rejuvenation.

R5 – Reduce Facial Volume

As we age, excess fullness can develop, particularly under the chin (double chin) or in the jowl area, affecting the lower face-to-neck transition. To address this, we offer procedures like Kybella to dissolve fat, AccuTite to tighten or melt fatty tissue, Liposuction to remove fat, or CoolSculpting to freeze fat, providing effective solutions for a more defined and youthful facial appearance.

Recovery and Results After a Lip Lift

You will likely be able to return to work within days, and you can expect the incision to be swollen and red for about seven to 10 days after the procedure. You’ll experience some bruising around your mouth, and we’ll provide you with everything you need to effectively manage your pain and discomfort.

You will be instructed to clean the incision gently, and you will apply Vaseline or scar gel to the affected area. You will be asked to refrain from smoking and excessive chewing for two weeks and sleep on a couple of pillows to keep your head elevated during the initial recovery. You will notice that your lips look fuller immediately after your lip lift.

After about three months, you’ll start to notice your final results taking shape. Absorbable skin sutures will not have to be removed, but our surgeons, Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov often remove any residual suture after five to seven days. You can expect most of the swelling to go down in a week to two weeks, and you will be allowed to cover your scar with makeup.

Any swelling and redness over the scar will disappear after about three months. The scar tissue will also become smoother and less noticeable, and we’ll be sure to give you clear instructions to ensure your scar is as minimal and difficult to spot as possible. We’ll also be here to answer any questions you might have during your recovery.
