The Importance of Breast Implant Rupture Surgery

While complications with breast implants are never pleasant, the truth is that they do sometimes occur. If you suspect that your breast implant has ruptured, we recommend reaching out to Dr. Young Cho or Dr. Mihail Climov immediately and scheduling a consultation. In some cases, the outer shell of the implant can break down, causing the silicone to leak and the scar tissue around the implant to harden. When this happens, it is important to remove the implants as quickly as possible.

Dr. Cho and Dr. Climov remove silicone material from implant leaks with a high level of expertise, restoring your peace of mind and ensuring your quality of life. Even if your breast implants have not ruptured, you should have them evaluated every few years. Dr. Cho and Dr. Climov use ultrasound at the practice to confirm the integrity of implants for their patients.

The Benefits of Implant Replacement

When implant rupture occurs, implant replacement is important not only for your safety but also for restoring your appearance, your sense of body confidence, and your overall peace of mind. Some additional benefits of this procedure include:

  • If you remove your breast implants without replacing them, you need not fear ruptures that result in the removal of breast tissue.
  • You may find that you have a wider choice of clothing that fits well.
  • You will not have the expense of MRIs or ultrasounds to check for ruptures.

Your Breast Implant Rupture Surgery

You will receive intravenous sedation or general anesthesia before your breast implant rupture surgery. Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will remove and possibly replace your breast implants using the best combination of techniques for your situation. They may place drains to collect excess blood or fluid, they will then close the incisions. You’ll be given detailed information about the specifics of your procedure during your preoperative consultation.

During the surgery itself, Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will place an incision along the lower fold of your breast or around or below the areola, according to your surgical plan. Once the work is complete, Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will carefully close your incision, and you’ll be able to spend some time resting and recovering in our comfortable surgery center before you return home.
