Innovative Facial Rejuvenation with Ultherapy

Facial aging can be a frustrating fact of life, but it doesn’t have to be a permanent one, thanks to the talented team here at Integrated Aesthetics. Ultherapy™ is a revolutionary new nonsurgical procedure that uses medical ultrasound for cosmetic improvement of the skin and underlying tissues.

Ultherapy works deep below the surface — without harming the outer layer of skin — to firm, tighten, and lift the tissues in your neck and jawline, creating a more supple and youthful look that you’ll absolutely love showing off. If you’d like to learn more about the various ways we can help you enjoy an enhanced facial appearance, reach out to our Spring, TX location and speak with a helpful member of our team to set up your consultation today.

Is Ultherapy Right for Me?

Ultherapy helps to restore collagen in the deeper facial structures, improving skin tone, muscle support, and fatty tissues. As we age, our collagen balance in our face and neck is gradually depleted, resulting in a “saggy” appearance or feeling. We normally see the earliest signs of sagginess start in our late twenties or early thirties. Ultherapy can help slow down the visible effects of aging and collagen loss by helping to restore the collagen balance. It is ideal for patients who have mild to moderate signs of aging. It can leave you with a sleeker, more defined jawline and tighter skin on the neck under your chin.

Sagging skin on the cheeks can be tightened and lifted, which in turn can improve the appearance of folds that run from the nose to mouth, folds from the mouth to jaw, and drooping corners of the mouth. Sagging skin on the forehead can be effectively tightened, and this treatment can also reduce sagging skin on the eyelids for a more open, refreshed look in general. Additional benefits include overall improvements in skin texture and tone, as well as the encouragement of further collagen production for long-lasting results.

How Ultherapy Works for You

Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to treat loose skin near the brow, the upper face, the mid-lower face, the full face, and the neck by using your body’s natural healing response to gradually restore your skin’s youthful qualities from the inside out. By directing sound waves deep under the skin, the Ultherapy device lifts and tightens loose skin without any kind of incision.

Ultherapy treatments take between 30 and 90 minutes to complete, depending on the specifics of your treatment area. By stimulating collagen formation, Ultherapy helps the skin maintain its youthfulness, and most patients see results after just one treatment. Your final results will take shape over three to six months.

There is minimal downtime after your Ultherapy treatment. You might experience some slight swelling or redness and, in rare cases, bruising. Some patients feel sore or a tingling sensation in the areas that were treated from a few hours to a few weeks. You can expect to return to work and resume your normal activities after the treatment.

The Primary Benefits of Ultherapy

  • Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that reaches below the surface of the skin, so side effects and downtime are minimal.
  • Many people see an immediate improvement and increasing benefits over the following two to three months.
  • The procedure is safe for all skin types, and many people qualify as candidates for the procedure.

The Ultherapy Treatment Experience

Ultherapy has proven to be an inviting alternative for those who want to improve loose skin but are not ready for surgery. During the treatment, an ultrasound conductive gel is applied to the treatment area. The aesthetician will then move the Ultherapy handheld device across your skin to transmit ultrasound energy into the deeper layers, where it stimulates collagen production.

As with other ultrasound procedures, a smooth applicator placed upon your skin projects an image onto a screen. This same applicator is then used to deliver low levels of focused heat at just the right depth below the skin to achieve a positive effect, leaving the surface of your skin undisturbed. Your skin’s response to the energy is to stimulate the growth of new collagen.

You will observe some immediate tightening and lifting that will ultimately result in a natural lift and conditioning of the skin over time. The aesthetician will adjust the treatment depth of the device to deliver ultrasound energy to specific layers of tissue. The depth used will vary between patients, depending on the quality and fitness of their skin.

Ultherapy Recovery and Results

The regenerative process is initiated right away, but the full effects of your Ultherapy session will take shape gradually over the course of two to three months. In the FDA clinical trial, 9 out of 10 patients had a noticeable, significant lift of the brow line that resulted in a more open look to the eyes and a more youthful appearance overall. Patients also reported firmer, tighter, better-fitting skin in other areas of the face and neck as well. A smoother texture and more even skin color are also possible side benefits.

You will be able to return to your normal activities as soon as your treatment is over, and there are no special measures you need to take. Your skin may appear a bit flushed immediately after the treatment, but any redness should disappear in a matter of hours. You may also feel mild tenderness under the treated areas, which is normal. This indicates that the healing process is underway and that new, healthier collagen is being generated. We typically find that patients enjoy lasting results when scheduling yearly maintenance appointments.

Combining Procedures
with Ultherapy

Many patients opt to combine BOTOX Cosmetic (wrinkle relaxers) and dermal fillers for a liquid facelift effect without having to go under the knife. Other procedures complementary to Ultherapy include Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing, Sofwave, Morpheus8 and Medical Grade Skincare.

How is this different from other non-surgical skin tightening procedures?

Ultherapy is one of the only skin rejuvenation procedure that uses ultrasound to image and treat the skin. The ability to utilize an established technology — to both see below the skin and then treat it with great precision — helps ensure both safety and satisfying results.

What else do I need to know?

  • You may need medication to make the procedure more comfortable.
  • The most significant results will not be apparent until a few months after the procedure.
  • The results of Ultherapy are less dramatic than a surgical facelift.
  • The results do not last as long as a surgical facelift.
  • You will need to return for additional treatments to maintain and enhance results.

Are there any risks associated with this procedure?

In the hands of an experienced doctor and aesthetician, Ultherapy is considered a safe treatment. Potential side effects conclude numbness, burning or nerve weakness, or welts if too much heat is applied. Some patients may develop blisters, inflammation, and swelling, as well as tissue atrophy.

How many treatments will I need?

The effects of Ultherapy can still be seen a year after treatment. Some patients may desire a second treatment to further build on the treatment results. This may be beneficial for patients who have a higher degree of skin laxity in the treatment area. A second treatment completed before six months will be provided at a discount, and we like to schedule a follow-up visit to take photographs and track your progress. These visits will typically be scheduled one, three, and six months after your procedure.

What does Ultherapy feel like?

Many patients describe the sensation as momentary prickling or heat beneath the skin. This is the ultrasound energy being delivered into the tissue, which is how Ultherapy lifts and tightens the skin. Comfort levels vary from person to person. Some patients may undergo the procedure with no sedation and no numbing medication or nerve blocks. Others find taking a mild sedative like Ativan or Valium can reduce anxiety during the procedure. You will need someone to drive you home if you choose to take this before the procedure. We offer all our patients the option for nerve blocks to blunt the sensation. We can prescribe a sedative prior to the procedure.

Can anyone have the treatment?

A good candidate is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of sagging and feeling less firm. A lowered brow line or loose skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. We will evaluate your candidacy for this treatment when you visit us for your consultation.

Is Ultherapy safe?

Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy, which has been used in medical imaging and therapeutics, such as sonograms, for more than 50 years, and clinical studies have confirmed the safety of this latest application. As with any medical procedure, there are general safety considerations, which your physician will review with you.
