How MiraDry
Works for You

miraDry works by heating and destroying targeted underarm sweat glands with electromagnetic energy. It is a completely non-surgical procedure that causes an immediate reduction in underarm sweating, offering you the only way to enjoy lasting results through a non-invasive treatment.

Should I Consider MiraDry?

You’re a great candidate for the miraDry treatment if you have found yourself dealing with excessive underarm sweating that impacts your daily life. Excessive sweating can cause frustration by affecting your activities and the clothes you choose.

Many of our patients choose MiraDry because they are sensitive to deodorants and antiperspirants, while others avoid social and work opportunities because of their condition. Additional benefits include:

  • miraDry is effective for the vast majority of patients.
  • You may only require a single treatment.
  • You will see results immediately or within a couple of days.
  • miraDry is a long-term alternative compared to BOTOX Cosmetic.

Your MiraDry Consultation

The consultation process gives us both an important opportunity to learn about each other. You’ll learn about Dr. Cho, Dr. Chiang, and their team, and will have the opportunity to ask just about any question you might have about the MiraDry experience. We’ll learn as much as we can about your goals and lifestyle, so we can be sure that we’re recommending the ideal treatment choice. We offer more than 60 treatment options, both surgical and non-surgical in nature, and are confident that we can guide you to a procedural plan that’s right for you.

The MiraDry Procedure Experience

At your initial consultation, you will be asked to shave your underarms four to six days before your miraDry treatment and let the hair grow after that to identify the target area. Your aesthetician allows 20 to 30 minutes for preparation added to the hour-long treatment. When your treatment begins, your practitioner will inject a local anesthetic into your armpits to numb the area and provide a cushion between your sweat glands and the miraDry heating device. The procedure from that point on is generally painless.

Your aesthetician will then mark your armpits with a template that she will use as a guide before passing the handheld device over the target area to suction the skin and bring your sweat glands to the surface.

The miraDry device cools the skin as it heats the sweat glands, so the procedure is well tolerated. Once the treatment is over, you’ll have some mild discomfort that will quickly fade, leaving you to enjoy your exciting results.

After Your MiraDry Treatment

Although there is no reason why you cannot go back to your normal activities immediately after your miraDry treatment, some people take a few days to recover. You can expect swelling and soreness, as well as bruising, numbness, and redness in the treated area that can last a couple of weeks. You may see results immediately or within a few days. The results are likely to be permanent, although some patients wind up needing follow-up treatments.

Do you offer alternative procedures?

Prescription oral medications can decrease sweating, and Qbrexza, a prescription medicated wipe, can block receptors that are responsible for sweat gland activation. BOTOX Cosmetic and other neurotoxins or injectables can stop wetness for three to six months at a time. Surgery to remove sweat glands is another option, as is the electronic delivery of medication beneath the skin (a procedure known as lontophoresis).

What else do I need to know?

  • The procedure may reduce hair growth in the treatment area.
  • You may experience side effects, including redness, swelling, and discomfort after your treatment.
  • Additional treatments may be necessary depending on your sweat baseline.

Are there any risks?

The miraDry treatment is considered very safe. However, it is common to experience swelling, soreness, and numbness. These side effects open clear up within a few days or weeks. There are some risks associated with the numbing process, so it is important to see an experienced professional for your miraDry treatment.

How much will my consultation cost?

Your consultation will cost $175, which can be applied to the overall cost of your treatment, should you decide to move forward with us.
