FDA-cleared miraDry is a non-surgical treatment that eliminates excessive sweating and odor. The treatment works by reducing the number of sweat and odor glands under your arms.
Candidates for miraDry treatment have excessive underarm sweating that impacts their daily life. If you are a good candidate for the treatment, excessive sweating affects your activities and the clothes you choose. Some people who would benefit from miraDry are sensitive to deodorants and antiperspirants, while others avoid social and work opportunities because of their condition.
miraDry works by heating and destroying targeted underarm sweat glands with electromagnetic energy. The nonsurgical procedure causes an immediate reduction in underarm sweating. miraDry is currently the only option that gets lasting results through a noninvasive treatment.
At your initial consultation you will be asked to shave your underarms 4-6 days before your miraDry treatment and let the hair grow after that to identify the target area. Your aesthetician allows 20-30 minutes for preparation added to the hour-long treatment. She will inject a local anesthetic into your armpits to numb the area and provide a cushion between your sweat glands and the miraDry heating device. The procedure from that point on is generally painless.
Your aesthetician will mark your armpits with a template that she will use as a guide. She will then pass the handheld device over the target area to suction the skin and bring your sweat glands to the surface. The miraDry device cools the skin as it heats the sweat glands, so the procedure is well tolerated.
Prescription oral medications can decrease sweating. Qbrexza, a prescription medicated wipe, can block receptors that are responsible for sweat gland activation. Botox and other neurotoxins or injectables can stop wetness for 3-6 months. Surgery to remove sweat glands is another option, as well as the electronic delivery of medication beneath the skin (lontophoresis).
The miraDry treatment is considered very safe. However, it is common to experience swelling soreness and numbness. These side effects open clear up within a few days or weeks. There are some risks associated with the numbing process, so it is important to see an experienced professional for your miraDry treatment.
Prior to your consultation, we want to learn as much as possible about you so that we can best prepare for your visit. We want to understand your concerns, goals, timeline, and your budget to help determine whether we have the appropriate tools and options to deliver your best results.
During your consultation, your assigned Patient Experience Coordinator and Dr. Chiang will discuss your concerns in more depth. The doctor will do a physical assessment and then come up with treatment options that balance your needs to manage your downtime, your results, and how we can help address your goals. Many times, a multi-modal approach may be presented to help provide the best outcomes.
After discussing your options, you will continue your journey with your Patient Experience Coordinator to further review your quotes and review the next steps of your aesthetics plan.

Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy or ECIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the improvement of the skin’s texture, tone and color. During this procedure, the Eclipse MicroPen® is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. Eclipse MicroPen® Elite also creates micro-channels which allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin.
Reduction in the appearance for fine lines, wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture and softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Eclipse Micro-Pen® Elite can improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks.
Micro-Pen® Elite can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
A sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-points is attached to the Micro-Pen® Elite. Your skin-care professional will apply sterile saline to your skin and select the appropriate pen position based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
The feeling associated with the Eclipse Micro-Pen® Elite is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment more comfortable.
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment.
