Exilis Ultra: An Advanced Solution to Skin Laxity

Exilis Ultra 360 uses a combination of ultrasound and radiofrequency to tighten your skin and reduce unwanted fat in many areas of the body. The non-invasive procedure is cleared by the FDA to target fat cells and stimulate new collagen production, for a more supple and youthful appearance.

Creating Your Comprehensive Results with Exilis Ultra

Your Exilis treatment may be combined with EmSculpt to strengthen and tone the muscles in the treatment area as a way to enhance the treatment’s skin-tightening effects. EmSculpt can also be combined with other fat-reducing services like liposuction and CoolSculpting to create an evenly-toned, muscular appearance. Another great way to complement your Exilis Ultra treatment is with a microneedling session, resulting in a glowing and even skin tone.

The Exilis Ultra Treatment Experience

On the day of your treatment, you will lie down on a treatment table, and a grounding pad will be placed on the area of your body opposite the target area. Your aesthetician will use the handheld Exilis device on the treatment area to penetrate both deep and superficial layers of your skin. The device delivers controlled heating and cooling to various tissue depths.

Your skin temperature is controlled throughout the session for the utmost safety. The Exilis device heats up to a set temperature, generally from 105-109 degrees F. Each treatment will last from 15 to 30 minutes, and you may need a series of up to six treatment sessions spaced a week apart for optimum results.

Is There a Recovery Period after Exilis Ultra?

Your skin may appear red and warm after the treatment, but you should be able to return to your normal activities immediately after your session. You may be instructed to use moisturizer and stay well hydrated to help your lymphatic system clear the damaged fat cells.

You will be scheduled for subsequent Exilis treatments, and you should begin to see results after five to six sessions. Your full results will be apparent about three to six months after your final treatment as new collagen is produced by your body.

FAQ

Do you offer any alternative procedures?

What else do I need to know?

Are there any risks involved?

Do you offer any alternative procedures?

People with relatively good skin elasticity of all skin types and skin tones can be good candidates for EmTone, which can be used anywhere on the body. EmTone tightens collagen fibers and stimulates the production of new collagen for tighter skin.

What else do I need to know?

  • Exilis may not give you the results you would enjoy with a surgical contouring procedure.
  • It does not treat cellulite.
  • It can take up to a year to see the final results.

Are there any risks involved?

When you have an Exilis treatment on sensitive areas like the neck, inner arms, and thighs, you may have some discomfort, such as heat sensation and irritation. You may also have some redness, and some may experience light bruising. When used by an experienced aesthetician, Exilis should not have risks of burning or scarring. There is no risk of allergy, immune reaction, or injection-induced infection.

Dr. Cho’s Approach to Body Contouring

Dr. Cho’s approaches body contouring by first listening to the patient’s goals during their consultation and assessment. He prefers to segment the patient’s concerns into three different components that, when addressed, can help achieve their goals.

Shrink

As we get older, our tissues lose collagen and elasticity. We offer many options to help with this non-surgically. We use energy-based devices to stimulate collagen and elastin production, creating a nice overall change in patients that show mild to moderate degrees of skin laxity. On the surgical side, physically removing excess skin is often the strongest option. This can be completed with a tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift, breast lift, etc. For stronger results, we offer procedures like BodyTite, which is more minimally invasive and reduces excess fullness, while also addressing skin elasticity and sagging.

Tighten

The second component of body contouring involves fat. Volume reduction needs to be done in an artful way that enhances the patient’s overall shape or figure. We have some non-surgical options for this, such as CoolSculpting, EmSculpt, and Vanquish. These are all devices that help target fat but can also address some additional body contouring concerns. When a more dramatic change is desired, or if Dr. Cho feels that the patient will not be happy with an incremental approach, we shift our approach to options such as BodyTite. BodyTite helps to reduce fat and also tightens the skin.

Tone

The third component of body contouring involves muscle. With emerging technology, we can now focus on building muscle, which is a third tissue layer that can really help to enhance a patient’s results. We use devices like EmSculpt, which can stimulate intense muscle contractions and build new muscle fibers that enhance the shape and tone of the body. A tummy tuck or other surgical procedure can physically tighten the muscle units in a more anatomical position, allowing them to function more efficiently. Sometimes we even combine this approach with our non-surgical options to realign the muscles in a more anatomic position while also building muscle with EmSculpt.
