Brow Lift Procedure Overview
A brow lift is designed to improve the appearance of people who have developed deep furrows or lines in their forehead as they aged. The procedure can also help people with a low set brow. Dr. Cho will rejuvenate the upper facial area including the forehead and the brows by elevating sagging brow tissues. During your initial consultation, Dr. Cho will discuss various brow lift options and make a recommendation.
The goals of a browlift are customized for each patient and typically include elevating the brow tissues to restore a youthful eyebrow arch. A brow lift can open up the eye area, reduce the appearance of forehead lines and reduce the appearance of loose eyelid skin.
Dr. Cho will determine if you are a candidate for brow lift surgery. The procedure is not recommended for those who have normal or high-set eyebrows, since the result may give the patient an unnatural, surprised appearance.
Before your eyelid surgery, you will meet with Dr. Cho to discuss the various eye lift options and learn what results to expect from the procedure. He will explain the eye lift surgery, describe where incisions will be placed and tell you the type of anesthesia that is indicated, either local or general anesthesia.
A common procedure to complement a brow lift is eyelid lift surgery that can remove sagging skin from hooded eyes and remove eye bags below. A facelift for the upper face or the entire face can also minimize the signs of aging for a more youthful appearance.
There are several types of brow lift procedures, from traditional surgery to the less invasive endoscopic brow lift. You also have the option of a chemical brow lift which uses a substance such as Botox as an alternative to surgery. Other non-surgical options include thread lifts, and fillers to lift the brow.
As with most procedures, there are some risks to a brow lift. In addition to anesthesia risks you may experience bleeding, eye irritation, facial asymmetry and nerve injury with weakness or paralysis. Infection is also a concern, along with pain, unfavorable scarring and the possibility of revision surgery.
You will discuss risks with the doctor before your procedure.
