Dr. Cho and Dr. Climov may offer you additional breast contouring with fat grafting to enhance your cleavage or smooth the transition from your chest to your breasts. Liposuction to address the sides of the breasts or fullness that straddles the upper outer breasts and armpit can further shape the breasts. Stretch marks often signify weakened breast skin and tissue.

CO2 laser resurfacing and Morpheus8 may help improve the visible stretch marks, and BodyTite can help to strengthen to quality of the tissue and help prolong your results. Lastly, the use of an internal bra can help to support the implant from below and hence decreasing the effects of gravity on the breasts. All breast augmentation patients are required to refrain from using tobacco products, consuming alcohol, and taking supplements and medications that can thin the blood in the weeks leading up to surgery.

In addition to the size and type of implant you choose (saline, silicone, or cohesive gel), a variety of other options exist to customize your breast augmentation and results, including:

Breast implant shape
Implant projection (low, moderate, moderate plus, high, or extra high profile)
Implant placement (over, under, or partially under the chest muscles)
Incision location: Around the areola, lollipop incisions (around the areola and vertically down the breast), or anchor incisions (around the areola, vertically down the breast, and along the breast fold)

The Breast Augmentation with Lift Procedure

During your surgery, Dr. Cho and Dr. Climov will return your breasts to a more youthful position on the chest wall and reposition the nipples so that they are proportionate to your breast dimensions.

You will receive general or sedation anesthesia, and the entire breast augmentation with a breast lift procedure should take between one and three hours to complete.

Recovery after Breast Augmentation with Lift

An overnight stay is generally not necessary after breast augmentation with a breast lift, and you’ll be able to head home once the surgery is over. You will, however, need someone to drive you home and help care for you for at least the first 24 to 48 hours following your surgery.

Most patients experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising for one to two weeks after surgery. Once the initial recovery period has passed, you may return to work and other normal daily activities. Heavy lifting (more than 10 lbs) and strenuous activity may be restricted for about six weeks.

Breast augmentation surgery uses saline, silicone, or cohesive gel breast implants. Augmentation can also be performed by breast fat transfer via liposuction. This may be an option for women with a more modest goal of increasing the size of their breasts. If the degree of breast lifting is minimal, then consider BodyTite for the breasts, as this will give a modest lift by using radiofrequency energy to tighten the breast tissue. During your consultation, Dr. Cho will discuss the best options for you.

What else do I need to know?

After 10 years, there is an increasing chance that you may need an implant replacement.
Conditions like pregnancy, weight loss, and menopause after your surgery may affect the results of breast augmentation.
You will have scars from the incisions, which will fade over the next year or two.
You will have to maintain your weight to keep the same results over time.

Are there any risks involved?

For those who choose to have a silicone implant for breast augmentation, the US FDA advises biannual MRIs to look for possible “silent ruptures” that don’t cause symptoms. There are other risks as well, including fluid buildup, painful scar tissue around the implant, and skin wrinkling over the implant.
