Mommy makeovers are always individualized for each patient and often include a combination of breast enhancement and body contouring procedures. About the Mommy Makeover

You will meet with our surgeon, Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov, to discuss your goals for a more youthful figure and the procedures that will be included in your mommy makeover. As a good candidate for a mommy makeover, you should have a stable body weight and realistic expectations while feeling motivated to improve your appearance.

It’s best to wait for a mommy makeover in The Woodlands until you do not plan to become pregnant again in the future. You will be instructed to stop smoking at least four weeks prior to surgery, and Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will review your medications and supplements. If you suffer from chronic pain and you are on an opioid regimen, you will need to consult with the anesthesiologist before surgery.

What Can I Expect at My Initial Mommy Makeover Consultation in The Woodlands?

Your consultation in The Woodlands and Spring, TX, gives us the opportunity to learn about your personal cosmetic goals and will enable Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov to perform a physical exam that helps them best understand which procedures and techniques will be ideal for you and your body type. The mommy makeover is a highly customizable procedure, so you’ll collaborate with Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov to create a treatment plan that is tailored directly to your needs.

Our goal during this part of the process is to educate you as thoroughly as possible while also getting a clear idea of where your concerns lie and how we can help you address them. We’ll also identify other potential areas that may have changed during your pregnancy, including the arms, thighs, back and vaginal area. Our priority will be helping you understand the various ways that we can help you realize your cosmetic goals.

Mommy Makeover: Creating Your Ideal Outcome

Your mommy makeover will combine several surgical procedures in a single session, giving you the ability to avoid multiple recovery periods. The procedure will be customized to your needs and may include a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, a breast lift, and liposuction. You might also include a perineoplasty that will tighten the entrance to the vagina and vaginoplasty to repair and tighten the floor of the vagina. Some people also add a Brazilian butt lift for contour.

The Abdomen

Abdominoplasty, commonly called a tummy tuck, can help create a flatter abdomen and repair stretched muscles on the abdominal wall. There are a few variations in technique that Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov may recommend, including a mini-tummy tuck that involves a shorter incision. Minimally invasive options like BodyTite can also be called upon to tighten and tone abdominal muscles that have been impacted by childbirth. In most cases, the quality of your skin and the degree of laxity that is present will determine which technique Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov feels is right for you.

The Breasts

Cosmetic breast surgery is a common part of the mommy makeover. Our Surgeons, Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov can restore fullness to your breasts or elevate them to a more youthful position with a breast lift or breast augmentation. Breast augmentation requires the placement of a saline or silicone breast implant, while the breast lift requires surgical tissue tightening to correct breast sagging. An internal bra can also be used to support implants once they have been placed. For patients interested in more subtle improvements, a fat transfer procedure may be ideal.

Body Contouring

Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov can use liposuction to remove persistent areas of localized body fat, such as the arms, thighs, tummy, back, and neck. For safety, a limited amount of fat can be removed with liposuction. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure but a proven mommy makeover method of selective body fat removal. Stretch marks can also be addressed with tissue remodeling procedures like BodyTite, Profound, Morpheus8, CO2 resurfacing, and CO2 laser resurfacing. Fat grafting also has a regenerative aspect that can be used in body contouring.

What is Recovery Like After a Mommy Makeover?

You will be given IV pain medication immediately after your mommy makeover in The Woodlands and Spring, TX, to manage your pain while in the recovery area. Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will give you a prescription for pain medications when you go home. During your initial two-week recovery period, you will be able to engage in light daily activities.

You will be instructed to avoid all strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for six weeks. You can expect swelling and bruising to begin to subside in one to three weeks, and you’ll notice the final results of your mommy makeover within six months.

We’ll do everything we can to ensure that you enjoy a peaceful and accelerated recovery process.

What else do I need to know?

  • You will need two to four weeks of downtime and up to three months for a full recovery.
  • You may be left with scarring from some of these procedures, though Dr. Cho makes every effort to create incisions that leave minimal scarring.
  • Future weight gain can have a negative effect on the results of your mommy makeover surgery.

Are there any risks?

While the procedures included in a mommy makeover are considered to be safe, they carry some risks. Infection and DVT blood clots are some of the risks of surgery. Choosing a highly experienced surgeon like Dr. Cho gives you the opportunity to avoid many of these risks and enjoy total peace of mind while you look forward to your results.

What do your patients say after this procedure?

The mommy makeover is something of a journey. Our patients are often incredibly excited about this procedure, and we find that patients are often highly focused on the recovery process once the surgery itself has been completed. Patients are often excited to return to their normal routines after a couple of weeks, at which point they can begin seeing their results taking shape. By the six-week mark, many patients report that they’re starting to feel truly excited about their results as their swelling continues to resolve and their true outcomes become more and more visible.

How will you ensure my safety?

Our main concern is ensuring that our patients receive proper post-procedural care, and we make sure that our mommy makeover patients are supported and cared for after surgery. We monitor patients closely for signs of potential infection or issues with wound healing. We’ll make sure to help you manage any discomfort, keep you hydrated, and ensure that you have everything you need to enjoy a peaceful and relatively pleasant recovery period.

What is required for maximum results in a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover procedure can be very rewarding. There are things that you can do to help optimize your results. Staying close to your ideal body weight will allow your surgeon to optimize your result. In addition, a healthy lifestyle with a good balance of diet and exercise can further help you maintain your results after surgery.

A consultation can help further assess whether the mommy makeover procedure can include additional body parts such as the arms, back or thighs. Most typically the procedure focuses on the breast and abdomen, but you may be able to enhance your results by addressing other areas of concern whether they are done at the same time or at a separate stage. Additionally, it can be addressed in a non-surgical fashion.

One of the most important decisions is finding a plastic surgeon that is right for you. I would look for a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area and really focus on becoming educated on what your options are to achieve the best results during your consultation.

What is recovery like after a mommy makeover?

This is a general guide I give to my patients as to the recovery after a mommy makeover:

  • • Week 1: Discomfort and tightness level progressively decrease with each day. Swelling decreases a great deal after one week. Most people return to work in some capacity.
  • • Week 2: Unlikely to need any narcotic support except maybe at night. Swelling and tightness continue to improve compared to week 1.
  • • Weeks 3-6: You may need Tylenol or Ibuprofen for intermittent discomfort. Swelling completely resolved. Tightness may continue as the implants sit into their final position over an additional few months.

As far as activity, here is a safety guide: No heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 6 weeks (a gallon of milk as a guide); Resume walking at a leisurely pace right after surgery (e.g. 2 mph); At 2 weeks, you can walk 2 miles at 2mph; At 3 weeks, you can walk 3 miles at 3mph; At 4 weeks, you can walk 4 miles at 4mph; At 5 weeks, you can jog 5 miles at 5mph); At 6 weeks, you can resume all activities, but listen to your body and use discomfort or tightness as a guide so you don't overdo it.

So as far as the little ones, I would recommend having help for basic needs like lifting into the car seat. You can cuddle with them while you are sitting down, but you should avoid the tendency to multitask with one child in your arms while you are busy doing other tasks.

Do you have to be a certain age for a Mommy Makeover?

Age alone does not determine whether you are a candidate or not for plastic surgery. If you are healthy and do not have a complicated medical history, you can certainly entertain a Mommy Makeover procedure. You may also need medical clearance which will include seeing your primary care physician or cardiologist to ensure that you are safe to undergo general anesthesia and a procedure such as a Mommy Makeover. The Mommy Makeover is an extremely rewarding procedure and can really help transform your body and build confidence. I would make sure that you visit with a board-certified plastic surgeon than can help you evaluate your options and come up with an appropriate treatment plan to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

How much will my consultation cost?

A consultation with Dr. Cho will cost $175, but this cost can be applied to the overall total of your treatment plan, should you decide to move forward with Integrated Aesthetics.
