Enjoy a More Toned Look with an Arm Lift

Arm lift surgery (also known as brachioplasty) uses tissue and skin tightening techniques to remove excess skin and stubborn fat deposits that appear on your upper arms. Weight loss, weight gain, aging, and genetics can all contribute to sagging skin on your arm, and you’re absolutely not alone if you’ve found that the skin cannot be tightened by diet and exercise alone.

Dr. Young Cho and Dr. Mihail Climov bring nearly 20 years of experience to each procedure, and prides himself on his ability to create stunning yet naturalistic results. When you’re ready to learn more, reach out to us at our Spring, TX location and speak with a helpful member of the Integrated Aesthetics team to set up your initial consultation and get started on your journey to slim, toned arms.

Our Surgical Approach to Your Arm Lift

When performing your arm lift, our surgeon, Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov may combine skin tightening techniques with liposuction. If your skin elasticity is good, he will be able to perform liposuction alone or with BodyTite to enhance skin and tissue retraction.

If only a minimal amount of skin needs to be excised, Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov may limit the incision to the armpit region. If more skin needs to be removed, the incision may be extended from the underarm to your elbow or somewhere in between.

Why Patients Love the Arm Lift

The arm lift is a permanent and effective way to remove fat and skin from your upper arms to expand your clothing choices and improve your ability to show off a more toned look, enhancing your self-confidence and boosting your overall quality of life.

  • An arm lift is a permanent and effective way to re-contour your arms.
  • The procedure is considered to be low-risk and can be done under local or general anesthesia.
  • You will feel more confident wearing sleeveless clothing in public

Creating Comprehensive Arm Lift Results

During your consultation, Dr. Young Cho, MD, FACS or Dr. Climov might recommend additional procedures that can help you truly bring your body contouring desires across the finish line. They'll work closely with you to educate you on the various ways that we can create impressive, comprehensive results.

  • Liposuction can help you address stubborn fatty deposits in a number of other areas for a more uniformly toned appearance.
  • The thigh lift can create results that are similar to your arm lift, but in your thighs.
  • The body lift may be ideal for addressing the further presence of sagging tissues or excess skin laxity.
  • BodyTite is a minimally invasive solution to stubborn fat and sagging tissue.

Your Arm Lift Consultation

Before your arm lift, you will meet with Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov for a consultation, and they will determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. An arm lift is ideally performed on individuals who are healthy nonsmokers with good skin elasticity and are willing to accept some scarring as a tradeoff.

This procedure is often used after weight loss or weight gain, or to improve the effects of aging or genetics. An arm lift can also be combined with other body contouring and body lift procedures. Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will work closely with you to help you explore all your options during your preoperative consultation.

The Arm Lift Surgical Experience

Arm lift surgery can take one to two hours to complete. When your procedure is over, Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov will place sutures to close the incisions and maintain the new shape of your arms. You will be placed under local anesthesia for minimal skin removal or liposuction. For a larger treatment area, you will be placed under general anesthesia.

Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov may make incision marks on your inner arms prior to surgery. Once they makes the incision, they will cut away excess fatty tissue and skin with a scalpel or cautery tool. They will then suture the wound closed. The full details of your surgery will be explored during your consultation, so you can enjoy total peace of mind.

Recovery After Your Arm Lift

After you have undergone an arm lift, you should expect to spend six weeks before making a full recovery and resuming your full activities. After about two weeks, the swelling and bruising, which are common side effects, should subside. Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov may prescribe medication to manage your discomfort as you recover. You will wear tape and a compression garment to aid in proper healing.

Arm Lift FAQ

Do you offer alternative procedures?

Some people opt for liposuction to remove any excess fat and give the arms a toned and sculpted look. Liposuction alone can work if you have good skin elasticity. We use BodyTite to further tighten the skin in conjunction with liposuction for patients who are looking for a non-incisional approach to contouring their arms.

If you’re seeking non-invasive options to contour your arms, consider Coolsculpting or Emsculpt NEO. Together, they focus on building muscle or reducing the fatty tissue layer to enhance the shape. To address the skin, consider adding a skin tightening procedure like Profound RF, Morpheus8, or Sofwave to rebuild some of the lost collagen and elastin in the arms.

What else do I need to know?

  • You will have a scar along the inside of your upper arm from your elbow to your armpit.
  • It may be a couple of months before you are allowed to resume strenuous activity.

Are there any risks?

As with any surgical procedure, some complications are possible. In the case of arm lift surgery, these may include changes in sensation and pigmentation, poor healing and scarring, and a rare chance of bleeding or infection.

Can I combine arm lift with other procedures?

Yes, arm lift surgery can often be combined with other procedures, such as liposuction or a tummy tuck, to achieve a more comprehensive body contouring result. For example, combining an arm lift with a breast lift or thigh lift is common for those seeking multiple enhancements.
