Lift and Reposition Your Saggy Face and Cheeks

If you are unhappy with your appearance because of saggy face cheeks, you are not alone. The condition may be the result of genetics for some people, or aging and other causes for the rest of us. Sagging cheeks are caused by collagen and elastin breakdown in the deeper layers of the skin, leading to looser skin on the surface.

Fortunately, there are a number of non-surgical and surgical corrective and refining treatments that can address the issue of sagging cheeks. Dr. Cho and Dr. Climov at Integrated Aesthetics will schedule a personal consultation with you to learn about your concerns and recommend a treatment option designed to meet your goals.

Causes of Sagging Cheeks

Even if you follow a strict skincare regimen and use the best skin care products, you may develop loose, sagging skin and increased facial skin laxity as you age. Saggy cheeks from lack of skin tone and cheek volume can give you an undesirable gaunt look. When elastin and collagen production decline, sagging skin makes its appearance and can give you a tired and less youthful look.

Sagging cheeks may be the result of genetic predisposition, ethnicity and/or aging. Other causes of sagging cheeks are significant weight fluctuations, low body weight and low body fat.

Daily wear and tear, stress and your sleeping position can all contribute to sagging cheeks. Exposure to free radicals is also a culprit. Free radicals are produced naturally in the body and found in UV rays from the sun, cigarette smoke, pollution and toxins. They are also found in food additives, pesticides and chemical cleaners. Free radicals can damage the structural layer of your skin and cause accelerated aging, leading to sagging cheeks.

Preventing Sagging Cheeks

There are some things you can do to avoid developing sagging cheeks. It is important to use a broad spectrum sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection, even if it is cloudy outside and you are not sitting directly in the sun. If you have not done so already, give up smoking.

Hydration is important as well as getting enough sleep and eating right to nourish your skin. Try reducing your sugar intake and adding antioxidant foods to your diet. When home remedies do not produce the results you expect, schedule a consultation with Dr. Cho or Dr. Climov to find out about more effective treatment options.

Treatment Options for Sagging Cheeks

There are both non-surgical and surgical options to address the issue of sagging face cheeks.

  • Non-Ablative Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing uses a non-wounding laser that removes fine lines and layers of skin.
  • Ablative Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing treats deep wrinkles by using laser energy to remove targeted layers of damaged skin and improve skin tone.
  • Microneedling, the “vampire facial,” reduces fine lines and wrinkles, tightens the skin, and stimulates collagen production.
  • Microneedling with Radiofrequency stimulates the body’s natural collagen to reveal firmer skin and treat sagging cheeks.
  • Non-Surgical Facelifts such as Liquid Facelift and Vampire Facelift are effective in treating sagging facial cheeks.
  • Non-surgical skin Tightening procedures include FaceTiteUltherapy, and Plasma Skin Resurfacing.
  • Thread Lifts use special threads to stimulate the production of elastin and collagen.
  • Surgical Facelift procedures are customized to your concerns for significant restoration and a permanent solution.
