CELLULITE

Learn your treatment options.

There are new cellulite treatment options that can reduce the appearance of cellulite. There are different types of cellulite, and the recommended treatment will depend on the type of cellulite you have.

OVERVIEW

Cellulite is a common cosmetic concern among women. Cellulite occurs when the connective tissue between your skin and your muscle loses elasticity. This causes fat to bulge out of its compartment, leading to a bumpy appearance.

Contrary to popular belief, cellulite is not a weight issue. When people with a healthy diet and lifestyle find that their cellulite remains, it is time to think about professional cellulite treatments. Dr. Cho at Integrated Aesthetics can schedule a private consultation to discuss your options to get rid of cellulite.

CAUSES

It is believed that genetics and lifestyle factors like smoking and lack of exercise have an effect on cellulite. Body fat levels and changes in estrogen levels may also correlate to the formation of cellulite. Decreased collagen production and blood circulation happens as we age and can contribute to cellulite.

PREVENTION

You can try to prevent the formation of cellulite by exercising. Exercise can also help smooth, tighten and tone your skin. Staying active and stretching regularly may also help, as well as taking warm baths. Some people wear compression socks to help with blood flow.

When common sense at home measures like eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly fail to reduce your cellulite, you can make an appointment to visit Dr. Cho at Integrated Aesthetics to find out about professional treatment options.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

There are new cellulite treatment options that can reduce the appearance of cellulite. There are different types of cellulite, and the recommended treatment will depend on the type of cellulite you have.

These are a few of the more common treatments:

  • BodyTite is liposuction combined with radiofrequency energy that melts body fat and firms your skin. Many people who have the surgical procedure are satisfied with the result.
  • Cellfina is an FDA-cleared, noninvasive procedure to treat cellulite on the butt and thighs. Your doctor will insert a microblade under the top layer of skin to cut the bands of connective fibers and release fat. The procedure will reduce the appearance of cellulite.
  • Radiofrequency (RF) energy treatments are used to contour the body and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Radiofrequency energy heats the fat underneath your skin, tightens your tissues and increases your blood circulation. These measures reduce the appearance of cellulite over time.
  • The injectable filler Sculptra is FDA-approved to reduce facial wrinkles, and some doctors use it off label to lessen the appearance of cellulite by filling in cellulite dimples.
  • Cellulaze is an FDA-approved treatment for cellulite that uses laser energy to cut fibrous connective tissue, melt away fat and stimulate collagen production.
